Too often on our search for inner peace we tend to look only inward rather than at our world as a whole. When I say this, I am not referring to the “earth” as a whole, with all of its problems and pains, but only of the individual’s world, which includes everything that in some way has a real affect on it. People may think that an earthquake in China has a real affect on them and their lives but the truth is it doesn’t. Think of it this way. In looking at everything that happens in the world, good or bad, ask yourself, “If I never learned of this, would it have any affect on my life?” If the answer is yes, this means that whatever the subject is will change how your life goes, either in the short term or long term. In that case, you need to pay attention to the subject and understand what is happening so you can make the most of the good and the least of the bad. For instance, if there is someone in your everyday life who is having a problem and if they do not find a solution it would mean them having to be away from work and pass their duties on to you, this would be something with a direct affect. If you read a story in a newspaper or see on TV a story about the collapse of a building in Russia in a town where neither you nor anyone you know has any connection, this would qualify as a story that can have no affect on your life. Why then do we spend so much time watching the pains of others each ad every day? Why are a huge number of the 80% club glued to televisions each night watching so called reality TV shows where the main sport is to pass judgment on others and revel in their pain and human suffering? The reasons are the same as they have always been, the same thing that causes people to slow down at an accident, or to find a connection between themselves and a victim, regardless of how remote.
It is our old Dog of Emotion once again, wrestling the reins from the Dog of Logic and pulling us to a place where before we know it, our lives are wrapped up so tightly in the pains and misfortunes of strangers that we forget the most important part of life which is to LIVE!
Life is not meant to be spent wallowing in the sufferings and sorrows of others. It is not meant to be spent on things like ridicule, arrogance or pompousness. A life lived this way is like an apple tree that has its water and sunlight cut off. It will wither and die and produce nothing of any good. Our human selves are no different. In order to be healthy, our human Dogs need a balanced diet of the right food for each in order for our inner selves to be at peace. Don’t get me wrong, I believe in humanitarianism and have always been involved in community work and philanthropic efforts, but I aim these within my own community first. A hungry child is a hungry child and location is irrelevant. Also irrelevant is the level of the tragedy or calamity. If there is a crisis somewhere in the world and I send $100 to an aid group to help, is this any better for the world than if I give the same $100 to a local charity in my home town? Or what if I simply gave the same $100 to a local family who was having hard times? Over the past many years the bulk of international fundraising has been passed from individual groups raising money and distribution things that could make a real difference to people in need, to a host of professional marketing companies who take a set percentage right off the top for overhead, management and employee salaries. They are corporate entities whose only business is convincing you to part with some of your hard earned money, not because they want to save the world, but because this is their job and they are well paid for it. I am not saying all aid agencies are bad, nor am I saying that people should not give to them, for this is a personal choice, but don’t ever think you are making a 100% “free” choice. By the time you write out your cheque to China, Word Hunger or Haiti, You will have been bombarded by so much media on the subject that most humans will feel embarrassed and very guilty if they do not.
Guilt…… possibly the most parasitic of all emotions our dog must deal with, is something which should be removed from any healthy human if his inner self is to be at all free. Some will argue that guilt is important for if a person feels guilty, it is probably because they have been lacking or have not done or said something they should have. Logic, if properly fed, will keep guilt in check and assure that it does not adversely affect the human self. Guilt is an emotion that should only ever be released by the Dog of Logic. It is an emotion that is only realistic if we know something important has to be done and make the conscious decision to avoid it. If you were supposed to talk to your sister on Tuesday evening but instead you had a glass of wine and read a book, letting the phone go to the answering machine, Your Dog of Logic will tell your Dog of Emotion to release feelings of guilt, both to remind you of your shortcoming in not taking the call, but also to assure the next time you will not make the same mistake for fear of more of the same feelings of guilt. This is how the Dog of Logic can help keep our human on the right path if we are in control of both it and the Dog of Emotion. It becomes our barometer of both our own true honesty and that which we show the world. If we look at the same scenario with your sister calling, but instead of drinking wine, reading a book and letting the phone ring, you were kept late at work and were not home when your sister called, should you still feel guilty? Of course you shouldn’t, but most humans will in this situation because they are not properly nourishing either of the Dogs of Logic nor Emotion. If the Dog of Logic was properly fed, it would make the human understand that there is no need for guilt because the problem did not occur through any malice or slacking off, but only due to human life and the hectic way it can play out at times. When Logic and Emotion are not properly fed, there can be no assessment of situations to determine what, if any emotion should be released to the human self. In this case, the Dog of Emotion will try to make the call on its own and will almost always choose to send more guilt out. Remember that the Dog of Emotion enjoys all emotions, the stronger the better. It likes to bark and bark and will do so relentlessly unless controlled by the Dog of Logic. This will leave your human in a very tough spot and serve only to keep your life in imbalance. Some people will say that guilt is good and that if one feels guilty it is because of something we have done or not done, but this is nonsense. Human’s have used guilt as a method of control since the dawn of awakening. I’m sure if we could travel back in time we would find a cave mother telling her little cave children that if they didn’t eat all of their Mammoth meat it would break her heart etc…… Guilt, like all of the other emotions, is just a part of our human psyche and does damage only when released by something other than a properly fed Dog of Logic. In fact, if all of a human’s Dogs are properly fed and on the right amount of leash, Logic will never have the need to release Guilt. If I know I am doing the best that I can and I know that I am a good soul, but also accept that my human has a kennel full of barking dogs that will, no matter how enlightened I may become, at times flick the ears of other humans and even of myself, there should never be the occasion where I feel the need to make my human self feel guilty. It is in, “doing our best” that most people have the biggest problem. We hear this from the time we are born and it becomes stronger with every year, especially through our impressionable school years. “Do your best!”, “You can do better than that”, “You’re not doing your best!” and so on are phrases that most of us hear throughout our lives. What no one will explain to us however is that our “best”, changes each and every minute of each and every day. Lets say I am a track runner and I set the world record for the 100 meter dash last month, but this month in the same race I not only don’t break the record but I place fourth overall. Does this mean I did not give my best effort in the second race. There are many who would say that this is true, and if you can break a record one day you are every bit as capable of doing it again every time if you “do your best”. This is absolute balderdash and has been the cause of more low self esteem that the use of skinny models. The truth is folks, that our “best” will change like the wind. Some days your best may allow you to win a race, land a deal, ace a test or what have you, and another day your best may be a D minus. One day your best may allow you to get up early and clean your house, yard and wash you car, and another day the best you can do may be to sit in your pajamas and watch movies. Accepting this is the first and critical step in freeing yourself from improper guilt. How can you feel truly good about yourself if you hold to the idea that your “best”, means “the” best. If you cling to this belief that everyone can succeed at anything if they only “do their best”, you will have a very hard time as you age and your life will be filled with feelings of guilt and lack of self worth. Can you imagine how a high school basketball star would feel if they were State champion in their senior year but never achieved any basketball fame beyond that? Would he feel alright with being a third stringer in college or would he think he was not doing his “best”?
If a human is to begin to understand who they are and what is inside them, they must first shake the idea that “their best” is a constant and that the only reason it changes is because of a lack of effort or focus. Our “best”, is a subjective file kept by those around us and one that we should never read. It is simply a part of our history and if you look back on your own and see times when you feel you were at “your best”, do not lament these times nor pine for their return. Stop calling them the “best” time or the “best I ever was”. Instead, look at them and say, wow, back then on that day, my best was good enough to mean something great and I will always remember it. We may have many “bests” throughout our lives in the myriad of human endeavors we attempt, but none of these occurrences has anything to do with the “best” of what is within us. For that, we must see all of the past “bests” for what they were and are, simply memories to be enjoyed but not dwelled on. It is the only way we can start to fully understand who we are and what is really important.
Now, go and do your “best”…………………………………

The Dog of Logic and the Ear Flickers
Logic is often thought of in the same envelope as intelligence or common sense, but in truth it is neither. In fact, though the Dog of Logic can help us overcome many obstacles in the world, it can also cause us to stagnate and be too rigid in our outlooks and opinions. First of all, “logic”, and “opinion”, do not fit well together from the start. Opinion is at best an unproven philosophy or view point and while any opinion may be formed through logic, the Dog of Logic has one tremendous flaw that it can almost never see. This flaw is that the Dog of Logic if it is given too much leash, can cause the Dogs of Ego and Emotion to leave the team in order to support it, for if Logic is not right, who is? These dogs may even call out the Dog of Aggression to help move opposition aside so that the dog of Logic can remain pure and sound. This can and does cause problems for all humans.
Have you ever had a viewpoint you were so sure of you did not see it as opinion, but as clear logical fact? Something that you were so certain of that you would bet all you had on its authenticity? The human graveyards are full of people who lunged forward with certainty, feeling logic was on their side, only to realize at the last minute that their “logic” was flawed. “I was sure I could make it!”; “I thought it would hold out”; “It shouldn’t have done that!” and other explanations abound when someone who feels they have logic on their side meets with failure. The fact is that though logic itself is pure and unwavering, the human Dog of Logic is not. This dog can only be as logical as the information the human has to offer it so just as most peoples opinions and attitudes change with more or less information, so the human Dog of Logic changes its position with each new insight or fact. Our human Logic Dog is only as logical as the information we give it to process and even then it can only focus properly if all of the other dogs are properly fed and held in check. Imagine that you were shown something by another human that you admired greatly and thought of as very intelligent, more so than yourself. You would take this opinion and your Dog of Logic would place it in the part of your brains filing system that holds “fact”. It will remain there unless and until there are additional facts are uploaded into the brain that contradict the original idea or philosophy. At that time we may change our thinking on the matter and this information may be either moved into our “theory” or “opinion” files, as we now understand that there was a flaw in the logic. In the time between this misplaced logic can cause huge problems for our humans. Since the information is held by our Dog of Logic, it is very unwilling to part with it, much like a real dog is with a juicy bone. The more one tries to move this Logic Dog off of the bone to help it see that there may be a flaw, the more the Logic Dog becomes angry and upset. Since the Dog of Logic cannot act irrational, even when it is holding on to irrational or incorrect information, it can either bend to the pressure from the inner self and adjust its filing system to correct the problem, which is rare, or it can turn further inward to protect its misplaced ideals and call upon the dogs of Emotion, Ego and even Aggression to come to its aid. This inevitably ends with pain and confusion to our human, because the people around us also have their Dogs to deal with and if their Dog of Logic has a counter opinion to something our dog of Logic sees as unwavering truth, a war of sorts is inevitable. Have you ever been so sure of something at some time in your life that you would bet the world on its authenticity only to look back later and realize that you were completely wrong? This is especially hard on those of us who are generally in charge of our Logic Dog, because the more your human is right, the more it thinks it is “always” right. It is the reason that every year of most humans lives we think that we are, at that point, more in tune to what is true than we have ever been before and more than anyone else, especially people older than we are. As we grow older, most us of look back and realize that we really didn’t know much at all. The problem is that while it may be easy for a human to look at themselves a year or more back and say “I really didn’t know what I was talking about back then”, or the like, it is much harder and rarer that a human can look at their ideals and opinions today and accept that they may not be correct, even if they seem unbending at this moment. The Dog of Logic in most humans is far underfed, left fat and lazy within the pen. The Dogs of Ego, Emotion, Aggression and others prefer it this way. If the Dog of Logic is asleep, the other dogs can lead the human where they please without concern that the Logic dog will awaken and pull the human back to a more sensible place. Ego does not like Logic because the Dog of Logic is the best tool to keeping the Dog of Ego under control and properly fed, neither fat nor lean. Logic is that which pulls the human back from leaping between two buildings when both Ego and Aggression are barking that the jump is easy. It is what keeps our Dog of Emotion from spending all day barking in tears about something that is insignificant or where tears will not help. It is also that which our inner self, (remember, you can call this what you want, inner child, soul or what have you, the dogs are still in there!), relies upon to behave properly around others, especially loved ones. As mentioned in the very first posting, if you know in your heart you love someone and truly care for them, it is illogical to think that you would ever knowingly do anything to hurt that person. Still it happens, for to hurt is a human thing and it will happen to all of us. The key to understanding this is to maintain the knowledge that the inner self and the human self are separate and seldom cooperative. This is one of the most important aspects of the Dog philosophy that couples need to know if they want to avoid long periods of tension or fighting in their relationships. The fact that who we are inside, would never knowingly or willingly hurt another human does not mean our outer human will not, in fact it is a certainty that almost all of us will. I like to refer to this as “ear flicking”, because it reminds me of many years ago when riding a school bus when there were bullies who would sit behind the kids they could intimidate and do things like flicking their ears to get a reaction. This “ear flicking”, generally did not cause any long term damage and as long as the “flickee” didn’t react to the “flicker”, they would eventually stop and look for another victim who would give them the reaction they wanted. The same philosophy stands for human behavior and can cause the largest of problems, especially between people in a relationship, be it romantic, friendship or familial. As humans, our “ears”, are constantly being “flicked” by various forces from the world around us. The world does this in short to keep our humans from achieving any inner peace for only inner peace will allow us to leave the world, which the world would direly like to prevent. Inner enlightenment means understanding that everyone will at one time or another, be either the flicker or the flickee, depending on the day and the situation. I love my partner dearly and would never consciously do anything to cause her pain, but still it will happen. This is one of the most frustrating things about our humans, in that we will behave this way even though our Dog of Logic would deny it. This is because the dog of Logic never bites, it only barks. Since it is born of logic, it could never accept that it would do anything to hurt anyone else, especially a loved one. The truth is however, that when our Dog of Logic is given too much leash, it will call upon the other Dogs for protection when an outside force is challenging what it knows to be fact. This can be on anything from the most menial subject matter to the most important, for the Dog of Logic does not categorize the information it files, it only sees everything as logical fact, until our inner self pulls back on the leach so it can see more clearly. During this time, if our Logic Dog feels someone or something is threatening to disrupt or damage the pure files within, it may call on the Ego, Emotion dog for assistance and these Dogs may let loose the Dog of Aggression to assist, without understanding that this may cause hurt or pain to those around us. This is when humans use terms like “she snapped at me”, or “he bit my head off for no reason” etc.. They cannot understand where the negative or damaging tone or actions came from, because from their point of view they can see the flaw in the logic, even if our own Dog of Logic cannot. If it could, it would pull back those other Dogs and keep them held tight before they caused any hard. Instead, we draw our broadsword quickly with the right of Logic on our side and slash at the weeds of discontent and challenge around us. This is ear flicking at its best, (or worst?). I’m sure every human out there with even a small bit of sense would accept that no one is always right, just as no one is always wrong. The problem with this is that when our Dog of Logic has filed something into the “truth” file, unless we have the dog held firmly by the collar it is impossible for it to in any way think that it could be incorrect. Logic, by its nature, should make us question everything, especially ourselves and our human decisions, but because few people understand the Dogs within them, (lets face it, I am just now righting about it and so far am the only human reading it!), they do not see that we are, each of us, two separate entities housing one vessel. Without this realization and acceptance about our inner and human selves, we will tend to defend the thinking of our Logic Dog to a fault. Those of us in the top 10% of enlightened beings may get ourselves to where we can honestly question ourselves and our own logic before letting loose any dogs in support of our beliefs, but the 80% pack simply cannot so they instead go through life like an eighty pound dog walker with 500 pounds of dogs pulling at the leash. At any time these dogs can bark, bite and scratch at the world around them, disrupting other humans and ear flicking at will. When you reach a point of enlightenment, you will begin to understand that this is normal, even for those who understand it. In my relationship, when one of us behaves in a way that is unkind or negative to the other, we will soon after reach out to say, “I’m sorry if my human was flicking your ears”. This lets both of us know that, a) We recognize and accept that we behaved in an improper and negative manner, and b) That this behavior did not come from the true inner self, but only because we lost control of one or more of our Dogs. Although the hurt felt by those whose ears we flick, or by us if our ears are the target, still brings pain, understanding that the cause of the hurt was not conscious and did not come from the true one who cares for us, is critical to getting past the many small disturbances we bring to each other every day. Before we understood this and embraced it, even a small ear flicking could cause days of tension, tears and frustration on all sides, which could have easily been avoided had we understood that since our inner self would never hurt those that we respect and/or love, if we caused such hurt it can only be because our human, through the improper care of its Dogs, did do so and will no doubt do so again. It is also important to remember that we can flick our own ears, especially if the Dogs of Ego or Emotion are involved. Feelings of low self esteem or insecurity are simply your human’s way of sitting behind your soul on the bus, reaching out and snapping its ear until it gets a reaction. The reaction will almost always include the release of the Dog of Aggression, who often wakes up groggy and confused at this, since there is no other human to bark at or bite. It is illogical that the Dog should bite itself, but as humans it is a fact that we often do. Whether self inflicted or from an outside force, when our ears are flicked it is important that we use our Dog of Logic to focus on the reality rather than the pain and understand the difference between a real threat which warrants releasing the protector dogs from the pen, and a meaningless ear flicking whose only design is to cause a reaction that will cause our humans pain and keep us from finding inner peace.
Think about this and I will discuss more later…………………………………….

The Dog of Emotion and how it is fed.
Ah yes, the Dog of Emotion! How it can twist and turn our humans, capable of taking us from the darkest places of fear and anguish to the highest peaks of pleasure and contentment. The question is, what is emotion? Why do some people seem void of any while others seem to be always crying in their soup? We all know how men in most human societies are raised to believe that showing emotions or being emotional is bad and un-manly. Men are taught that crying is a sign of weakness and so most spend their lives packing all of their troubles into a place inside them which never is dealt with. Women on the other hand, are taught that being emotional is expected of them, but still it is seen as a negative. The fact of the matter is that Emotion is just another Dog within each and all of us that is essential to our human health and well being. It can bring us the very best of feelings or make the bad seem even worse. There are many different emotions. Elation, anger, fear, boredom, sadness and guilt can all provide benefit to a human or be a detriment. The thing one has to now about the Dog of Emotion is that it never comes out of the doghouse alone and is always brought out to provide assistance to other dogs. It is the "reactive" dog, who, unless firmly held under control by the Dog of Logic, can take our humans to places of pain and distraction which are difficult to deal with. This is where the Dog of Emotion can cause the most trouble if the inner human self, “soul”, “inner child” or whatever you need to call it, does not have this Dog on a proper leash with a firm hand. Emotion is not evil or bad. On its own, it cannot make a human strong, weak, happy or sad, angry or glib. The Dog of Emotion is in a way like the stories of a twin who feels pain when their twin sibling is hurt. The properly leashed Dog of Emotion does not feel on its own, but rather it provides the response to our human that it deems appropriate during any time when one or more of our other Dogs are out, whether they are having a good time or a bad time. For instance, if a human has a Dog of Ego that is undernourished, it will call upon the Dog of Emotion to alleviate its state and provide the emotional sadness and psychological pain that it needs to justify why it is underfed. On the other side of the equation, if a person’s Ego dog is overfed, it will call upon the Dog of Emotion to support it’s glory, effectively patting this dog on the back and scratching its head for a job well done. If the soul is not in firm charge of the Dog of Emotion of the Dog of Ego, it can cause a spiral that will always be somewhat destructive. If a human is feeling that they are unworthy and their Ego dog is underfed, it may resort to hiding under the bed of the Dog of Emotion, letting tears be its sounding board for the world to hear. Emotion, no matter how it is manifested in our lives, is a necessary part of who we are as humans. It is often stringer than our Dog of Logic, which is why so many of us make the same mistakes over and over again, especially by letting our other dogs have too much leash. A Dog of Emotion with too much leash will often cause other dogs to follow blindly, caught up in the barking that eventually brings the entire human dog pound into a frenzy of noise and illogical behavior. It can cause us to act too quickly in some situations and to freeze in place in others. It can make us behave in negative and destructive ways, or to pull back in retreat from everything around us. The main point is that the Dog of Emotion is a pack dog and never runs alone. It is there in a positive form when our Dog of Ego needs to cry, when our Dog of Logic is asleep and when Dog of Aggression is allowed out but still kept on a tight leash. It manifests itself in negative ways when our Dog of Ego “needs” to win, when our Dog of Aggression has broken loose and when our Dog of Logic has become confused and is acting irrationally. Allowing all of our dogs to play with the Dog of Emotion is a critical part of finding enlightenment as humans. Our inner selves need to have all facets of the “Dog Pound” available and under control in order to become enlightened. If the dogs are doing their jobs, we can allow ourselves to experience all of the positive energy and full spectrum of our human lives. If a person goes through life without ever allowing his or her Emotion Dog have some running time, it will be impossible to find contentment, for the dog is underfed. If the Emotion Dog is allowed to leave the pound at will ad go wherever it wants it will overfeed itself and leave the human unable to hold back emotions that often need reining in. I know a man that at 60 years of age has never allowed this Emotion Dog to do more than stick his head out of his house before retreating quickly back inside. He has faced a lot of struggle in his life, lost loved ones to death and others because the only way to avoid the loss would have meant letting the Emotional Dog out for a run, which he could not do. These are the people we have all met at one time or another, that leave the room when any controversial or extremely personal subject is brought up, preferring to avoid than deal with them. Their Emotion Dog is like a beaten child. It hides deep within them and is only visible when the human is pushed to a far extreme. These are the people who often “crack”, as they say and can either end up lost in substance abuse or alcohol, or end up on the news in very negative ways. The longer a human’s Emotion Dog has been locked up, the harder it is to get it to even poke its head out of the door, for the only emotional focus it has been left is fear. Fear, another emotion, is as illogical as it is, well……frightening. It is merely an emotion, yet it can cause the Emotional Dog to emit such strong feelings to our humans that they will often shut down, not allowing any of the other human dogs out. It is generally not called forth by the Dog of Ego, for it only wants the Emotion Dog to provide specific stimuli, such as happiness and joy when our Ego has anywhere from enough to too much leash and like sadness if it is underfed. The Dog of Ego will also use the Dog of Emotion to bring forth feelings of guilt, whether to help the Dog of Logic see the right path or to further support an under fed Ego dog’s feelings of inadequacy. The emotions of fear are not always negative, since there are times when our Dog of Logic, (which we will discuss later), will call upon the Dog of Emotion to instill a feeling of fear to protect our human from danger that our Dogs of Ego and Aggression might otherwise ignore. It may also, through the Dog of Emotion, cause an over abundance of unwarranted feelings of elation caused not by good but by an out of control Ego that is overfed. It is easy to see how hard the balancing act of being a soul in charge of a human is. Imagine all of the people in the world and ask yourself what percentage of them has their dogs fully in check? Even people with most of their dogs in check are a rarity and it is not something that has a finish line where one can say, “I’ve made it! I have all my dogs under control!”. Even if one reaches the point where they have found enlightenment and who’s soul is firmly in charge of the dog pound, this control requires constant maintenance and review to assure that the dogs have not found a way to chew through the fences. Always remember that like all animals, it is instinctive in your human self to let the dogs run wild. This is why the early humans were primitive, not because they had a lower IQ or were not intelligent, but because they were new souls who had no concept of how to control their human selves. Yet even then, thousands of years ago, there were humans that developed faster than others, built better lives and inspired those around them to do great things. This is because even though they may not have understood what was happening, their inner self had more control over the Dogs of Humanity that many people do today. Whether a caveman or a business tycoon, without control of the dogs we are all just a pen around a whole lot of barking and until one understands this and grabs hold of the many leashes, he or she can never be free.
I will touch more on the Dog of Emotion in later postings, as it is a dog that overlaps into all other areas. Until then………………………………………..

Taking the Bow and the Dog of Aggression.
One of the biggest problems people face as they begin to find enlightenment and discover that which is within us all, is that it can make us so excited and energetic! We can’t believe how long it has taken us to come to this particular revelation and we feel it would be almost criminal not to let others in on our secret. Sound familiar?
It doesn’t matter what the issue, we humans have a flaw in our heads, (one of many!), that tells us that if something is new to us; a) It is new to everyone; and b) We can pass it on to others and they will be as excited as we are. I challenge each of you to look back into your past and think of the many things that excited and inspired you over your life. If you are honest, I know you will have had times in your life where you felt something you learned or experienced was “world changing” and you simply had to let others in on it. This is exactly the enthusiasm that makes the born again religious people feel they are “saving” us with their message, the same as every sect has done throughout history, Humans, no matter how open minded they consider themselves, cannot stomach the idea that they might be wrong or that their might be an opposing view to theirs that has merit. It is why most people cannot take part in a simple conversational debate in a calm and respectful manner. The idea that two people can have two opposing views but that neither of them is necessarily right or wrong is hard for most people’s Ego dogs to handle. Most humans deal in absolutes, even if they would prefer not to. “You always do that”, “This never works”, and a host of other senseless statements become part of our everyday life and we quickly find ourselves in a place where without fully understanding it, we are all but closed off to any opposing viewpoint. When someone tries to point out an error in our logic or to put forth a different view than ours, instead of having the self confidence to look at this as simply an alternate possibility, humans see it as an attack on their perfect plan and logic. They then usually attack the opposing view and set themselves in a defensive posture that serves only to build high walls around their supposed ideals to protect them, for after all, theirs is the right way! I used to become very frustrated with people like this, because at that time I did not see that I was behaving the same way, preaching my own truths from a different horse, but still feeling that there could be no error in my judgment. This was several lifetimes ago fortunately and since then I have learned that there is always the possibility that one is wrong or that there is a better way, no matter how passionately we may think otherwise. To believe that you alone have the answers and are the only one in the know, is a folly a course as those who insist they know what comes when we leave this world. Remember that foolishness is not bound by religion, education or social circumstance. It is within each of us and can control our lives if we let the dogs have too much leash. The base truth is that if any human feels so strongly about their cause or their opinion that they cannot sit by and listen to an alternate viewpoint without getting upset, their dogs are not being tended to. Sometimes this is because they see the alternate view as a direct attack on their worth as a person and other times it is because they see any alternate solution to an issue as someone taking the spotlight off of them. Sadly, attention is the biggest reason people get involved with issues, social of otherwise and the reason most of their efforts are underwhelming. I like to call it, “Starting with the bow”. What this means is that most people when they plan an event or happening, be it in their community, school, business or somewhere else, start with the vision of what the end result will be like and how much people will appreciate them and the job they did and praise them. Now few of us are at a point of enlightenment in life that allows us to admit this, so we have a very hard time getting past it. Starting with the Bow is the major factor in those people whose Ego dogs are improperly fed. These people want approval so desperately that they often make huge plans that generally involve them being the center of attention and having everyone give them a standing ovation and thank them for their life changing wisdom. One major problem with this plan is that once the idea is implanted and the person has in their minds what they feel will be the end product, they generally stop there and never go back to the beginning to set in place a plan that will see their goals achieved. Going back to the beginning means breaking the idea down into an actual plan, and then breaking the plan sown into segments and assigning the segments so all of the details are covered. The reason people don’t want this can range from an inability to understand how to be organized to a general laziness, but all of them have the same main problem which is that all they are really interested in is taking the Bow. It is reminiscent of the story of the Little Red Hen from childhood. Everyone wanted to eat the bread but no one wanted to sow the field, plant the wheat, water the garden, harvest the crop or grind the flour. Real life is exactly the same. Without our dogs properly reined in, humans will always be big on ideas and small on planning and execution. The reason is that they cannot tell the difference. They see an idea as a project, but in reality an idea is just an idea until a plan is put in place to see it to fruition. Until then, it is just a lot of hot air, which we are all full of! Many times have I watched someone put on a community event and then be disappointed when only a handful of people come out to support it. They complain and moan and curse their community for not seeing how great it “could” have been. When I point out to them that perhaps their advertising was not properly handled or that they did not adequately explain what their event was for, they become defensive and send all of the responsibility for the failed event outward. This is because in their mind, the event was not the problem, it was the people who did not support it. It is the same kind of argument you hear when looking at a mess on canvas that someone is calling art. If you make any comment to the effect that you do not like it, (or as I have said more than once, “it looks like something a child did in Kindergarten”), they say that you are just not a connoisseur of art and have a poorly educated taste for art. This is another example of how humans with unleashed dogs are closed minded and in fact very prejudice toward any other viewpoint but their own. I had a conversation recently with one of these humans whose dogs are very off leash. We were talking about fund raising possibilities and the topic of large corporations giving grants to communities came up. There was an instant dismissal of taking any funds from these large evil entities and a general inference that without them, the world would be a perfect place. While I do agree on many points about capitalist corporations, I suggested that if one is trying to raise funds for a project within their community, dismissing any avenue that would achieve the goals should not be immediately dismissed and should be at least open for democratic discussion. The problem with that is it allows for the possibility that the idea will be changed an inevitably the Bow will have to be shared. Most of all, for a person with their dogs off leash, accepting that an alternate viewpoint has merit means that their point of view is WRONG, which just can’t be, because as they know, they are the greatest and smartest and most innovative and caring and sensible etc. etc. ……….. No matter how sound the opposing logic is, it will be met with the same dismissal every time, because when you start at the Bow, letting anyone else in does not work. These people quickly let loose their Dog of aggression, who though a very necessary part of humans, can be the ruin of us if not carefully managed and fed. There are times when we need to let this big dog have more leash in order to strengthen and maintain our self esteem and keep the 80% from dragging us into the muck. It is also needed on those occasions when we cross paths with our counterparts on the bottom side 10% of humans, where at times aggression is the only solution. I am not referring to violence, though at times this to can be necessary for basic survival. I am speaking about human aggression, the kind that allows some of us to stand up for ourselves in a polite yet firm way. It is what allows us to keep from being taken advantage of and allows us to finish the hard days work when our Dogs of Emotion and Ego have had enough or are begging for attention, or when we find ourselves in a dire situation that requires strength and focus to overcome. The Dog of Aggression is kind of a shared resource that can be used by any of the other dogs, both for positive and negative purposes. If we are in a situation where our healthy Dog of Ego is under attack, we may allow this dog to call upon the larger Dog of Aggression to help us deal with the situation. When the threat is gone, we must pull back on the leash and put this dog back in his pen. If we don’t, his success I aggression will quickly provide too much food for the Dog of Ego, who will then want to keep the big do out at all times, not now for defense, but to keep others at bay, be they ideas, viewpoints or actual people. The same goes for times when our Dog of Emotion is hurt by an outside force, which can be the most dangerous because this also affects the Dog of Ego. If our Dog of Emotion reaches a point where it cannot overcome a situation and calls on the Dog of Aggression, it most usually leads to something you read about in the paper. The only Dog we have that can help our soul rein in these two wild Dingo’s is our Dog of Logic, but in most people this dog is too timid to come out when Emotion and Aggression are barking, especially when they are joined by Ego. Think of someone you have known in your life that has always bee overly aggressive. It may have made them a star athlete in school, but it also leads them into situations which end up in violence and intolerance. This is something that shows itself the most in young men and women from puberty onward. Just like the rutting bucks in the woods, young men and women go through the period of positioning, where they do unkind and sometimes violent things to their peers in order to affirm their place within the pack. With girls it is generally verbal violence, (much harder to heal from!), and with young men it is generally physical. Since much of our society seems to worship this kind of aggression in our sports figures, it is natural for this admiration to slide over to the school platform, with teachers putting up with Jimmy’s rough behaviour to the other boys because after all, “he’s a good kid and he’s the best athlete we have”. Teachers often have never left school, going from high school to university ad then back to school. For most of them, they never got control of their dogs nor do they understand them. They were also rarely the most popular student, the star athlete or much of anything else during their school years that made them feel significant. They always wanted to be part of the elite group, or be considered “cool”, so when they return to school, even though they are now a teacher, they have not gotten past the admiration they felt for the top group of students, whether make of female. This is why when a young man who is the most popular boy in school beats up someone who is not, the teachers often don’t take it as serious as they should, because they still look up to those top students like they did when they were school aged. They desperately want to be seen as “cool”, even if their school days are long behind them.
All of this boils down to the same thing. The dogs must be kept in check if the soul is ever to flourish and find itself. Look at your life as if you are a dog walker and you must navigate the world with your dogs held firmly on the leash, giving one more rope here and there as required, and reining back once the reason for the extra leash is achieved. If The Dog of Ego needs feeding, we allow it to feed, but only eating healthy food, meaning that we let it feed on accomplishments rather than superficial things. When it is fed enough, and our self esteem has reaped the benefits of the Ego feeding, we must shorten the leash and get the dog of Ego back in the pack with the rest, so there is balance and so that all dogs remember it is the inner self that is in charge and they are just components and not in charge. To do so keeps us aware of our overall human health and assures there is less risk that we will let any of our dogs get out of control. If you think of your life like a dog sled and your soul is the musher, steering the team through the ins and outs of life, it is easy to see the negative effects that giving any of the dogs on the team more leash would do. It would pull the sled to the right or left, trying to change the course of the musher. This makes the ride bumpy and uncomfortable, just the way your real life is when one or more of your dogs are not under control. The more off course the sled is taken, the deeper the snow can get until the sled cannot move and it freezes in place wherever it stops. This is what happens to people you see who seem so far off base and unaware of things from how we see them. Their dogs have pulled them wildly off of the trail and since they are frozen in the ice, they usually think that it is the world that is off base not them. If you want to keep your dogs under control you must first accept that you cannot free these people from their frozen fate, you can only mush on by with our dogs in check and hope that they might be inspired enough to question how they got where they are and do something about it. YOU CANNOT FREE THEIR SLED! Believe me, I have spent several lifetimes beating my head against frozen rock trying to help people out of their predicaments and in every single case I have ended up tired and frustrated. This doesn’t mean we can’t have an effect on others, but we can only inspire them by our actions and how we live, we cannot bring them inspiration. So many of the Bow takers want to, “save the world”. I would suggest that the world has been here for millions of years before we were and by all accounts lately, would seem to be trying to shake us humans off like a dog shakes a tick. The idea that we humans are in charge of the world is ludicrous. If our humans were in charge of the world, oh what a mess we would be in! The truth is only that which is within us could ever be, “in charge”, and even then, only in charge of our own human. We can allow our dogs to exert control on a particular situation, in order to steer the outcome to where we want it to go, but the idea that our humans can have any real affect the life of the world at large is utopian and a waste of time. We can make a better life for ourselves and our loved ones within the human world. We can achieve and aspire to great things, providing we hold the Dogs in check, and we can inspire through our actions not through words alone, people to make changes in their own lives and with their own human selves, for the overall betterment of the world around us. We must accept however, if we want love, peace, kindness, caring, sharing and cooperation in our world, we must accept that elsewhere there has to be equal amounts of hate, conflict, unkindness, uncaring, greed and lack of cooperation somewhere in the world. Just as for every action there must be an equal and opposite reaction, so for every enlightened person there must be a fool, for every peaceful community their will be one in turmoil and for every act of kindness, there will be an act in the opposite direction. Our humans have one time around on this earth, while our souls do not, (or at least most of our souls do not.) If one cannot find the clarity and understanding to learn about that which is within us all, there is little option but to put that soul through another rotation with a new human in order that they may have another chance at seeing the light. This is the basis of the belief in reincarnation, which many people see as immortality but the people who created the belief saw as failing to reach a suitable point of enlightenment sufficient to earn the key to another option.
What could that other option be? Join me again and we will discuss further………
It doesn’t matter what the issue, we humans have a flaw in our heads, (one of many!), that tells us that if something is new to us; a) It is new to everyone; and b) We can pass it on to others and they will be as excited as we are.

The 80 – 10 – 10 rule of humanity.
Dogs, Dogs, everywhere dogs, blocking out the scenery breaking my……..?
Stephen Stills will have to forgive me, but much like his hippy anthem of how structure and rules were causing the ruin of the world in that time, we hear the same things today being voiced about many more things than just signs. I wonder if someone will write a remake of that song for current times, like, “Twitter Twitter everywhere Twitter, blocking all the scenery and making me……”, well we’d need to come up with something that rhymes with Twitter and means being a zombie! Oh wait, can’t use zombies, because they are popular now. Every manner of beast, vampire or undead creature has become the love child of the current generation. I should actually not call the current round of humans a generation, since a generation has at least one complete rotation. Most of what I have witnessed in the current group of people moving from youth to adulthood is that they are barely making a one quarter turn. You can’t blame them really. The world is doing its job of distracting the 80% with everything from mass fear to the end of the world to a never ending supply of technology meant to reach into the depths of every one of us and extract whatever individuality and creativity we have left! Oh, now don’t get your junk in a knot! I know that technology is not evil, but misdirected in the capitalistic world of mass media and marketing, “need” is quickly confused with, ”want”.
This is a problem humans have had as long as they have been on the earth, likely including when we were small, insignificant creatures swimming in the sea. (Yes, I am referring to and a believer in evolution but in a way that few others do. You see, I believe that from the first cell separation, humans have always been humans. This is why there has never been a “missing link” found. There is no link because even though we looked and lived like current day apes, humans were always humans. Being ape like was simply another step on our own evolutionary ladder, much like self awareness has become for some in recent years. More on this later!)
Back to want and need, and the 80 – 10 -10 theory!
In the human world, there are three basic groups that all people fall into. There are 10% of people who are enlightened enough that there is potential for them to reach a point of awareness that could equal anything imaginable, from personal success to immortality. This 10% of humans tends to thrive no matter what is thrown at them and regardless of their birth or place in the world, because of their positive energy. These are the people that are generally referred to as “special”, “talented” gifted” and a myriad of other words meant for one thing and one thing only and that is to make it clear to the 80% that “they” are not like, ”us”. Humans separate out people in this “top” 10 percentile and put them on pedestals in order both to admire them and also to remind the admirer of his or her own insignificance and unworthiness. This is not to say that there is anything wrong with admiration, no matter who it is directed at, just that admiration can easily move aside for adoration or idolization, neither of which is terribly healthy. Too often people stop living their own lives while they watch someone else live theirs. Our humans tend to live vicariously through those who we admire. It is certainly easier to focus on American Idol rather than housework, but at the end of the day, the dishes are still dirty.
These distractions keep the bulk of humans, our 80%, from any chance of having enough open space in their minds to truly examine who they are and why they are here. This doesn’t mean these people are visibly unhappy, in fact, most plod along with good days and bad days, or even seemingly all average days, not standing out much in any direction. This in fact is the purpose of the 80%, to remain together in the pen with the other sheep. These are the people who though they have the same inner soul inside of them as all of us, seem content to just trudge forward as long as they are in a pack. This makes them feel what is generally referred to as “normal”. Normal……… Hmmmm……. Now there is a word that almost defines explanation. Normal, average, both words make most people feel alright about themselves. Not great, but alright. The desire to fit in is driven into humans from birth, with much of our society built on conformity and line towing mentalities. It is this which is one of our human dogs best weapons for keeping the leash loose and the inner soul clouded and confused. It is one of the most illogical things I have come across so far in studying the humans, mine included. If the 10% of people in the world are the best, brightest, most innovative and creative etc.. etc… etc….., why would anyone looking for enlightenment want to be a part of that group? “Weird”, “odd”, and “different” are the terms most commonly used by the 80% when talking of the top 10%, along with “awesome”, “The best” (a completely inaccurate term in any sentence, unless coupled with “that they could” or similar!), or similar description. This is why of late with the technology boom, more and more people seem obsessed with following every move made by people who they see as “special”. All the tie they are doing so the inner self is driven further and further from finding any light. There is nothing wrong with admiration. I admire the work done by anyone who stands out, like some celebrities, sports figures and most people you would expect to be admired. I also admire the way my mechanic can fix the problems in my car, and how my waitress can remember my order when the café is busy! This is the key. I place no more value in the very best to the very least, as long as I admire what I see. What does it do for your human self to spend too much time fawning over the accomplishments of others? It only distracts you from getting your own human anywhere beyond the day to day muck that we all walk through. If you want to find enlightenment you must first stop associating it with any monetary reward or attention getting. Otherwise you are simply living life as a spectator and not a participant. Keep in mind, humans for the most part go through life torn by their desire and their fear of being “special” or “different”. Just think of the connotations and it is understandable. We use the same term with a smile to describe someone as “special” who we see as better, more talented or creative than we are. We use the same term with a sad face to describe someone less fortunate or seemingly with less to offer the world than we ourselves. Both are nonsense. People are people, and we all have the same quality inside us. Some of our humans make it impossible for this to every be found or properly understood by some individuals, while in others it is simply locked in a cement enclosure never to see the light of day. For most people, standing out is more terrifying than being unnoticed. They don’t want to be last, but they sure as hell don’t want to be first! These are the sheep, the people who go through life watching for consensus before forming any opinion and often only after they are sure they’ll be safely within their 80% group where they can feel safe. Like frogs put in cold water and gradually heated, the 80% will always stay in the pot until it is too late, as long as the others stay too. The key to being aware and staying in the upper, positive 10% of humans is to always remember that the 80% are a necessary part of the entire human make up and you cannot pull them out of that group. If they can be inspired, they will be and once in a rare while, one of this group will awaken and realize they don’t belong there, but sadly, most are right where they will always be, stuck right in the middle. What holds most people in the positive 10% back in life is the belief that all it takes is for one to “show people the way”, and they will understand. Utter hogwash!!!! You cannot show someone the way. The best you can do is live “the way” and accept that some will gain from this and most will not. In the same way that control cannot be taken, it can only be given, enlightenment cannot be taught, it can only be learned. If someone has within themselves the ability and strength to understand the human dogs and how to control them, there is a good chance they have the ability to keep themselves well out of the 80% mass and continue on the path to truth and understanding. If they do not have this within them, there is no amount of explanation that will overcome this obstacle. Many a once enlightened person has been pulled back into the 80% mass due to their stubborn refusal to accept that no matter how hard you pull on the rope, some mules will not budge. The important thing in going through life is to always find ways that separate you from the 80%. This is where the innovative, inventive and creative souls on the earth always flourish. No matter what the event or human act, whenever a large group of humans is idolizing or focusing their attention on someone “special”, you can be assured that the person being idolized has been called “different”, “odd” or the like throughout their life. An example is hockey great Wayne Gretzky, one of the most achieved players in history, who is referred to as an anomaly even today by many.
Now there is the last 10% that I have not mentioned, who are much like everything on this earth, an opposite and balance of negative energy that is a part of the overall human species. This group is made up of humans who are also “special”, or “different” people, but in different ways than their counterparts in the top percentile. Don’t think that this means they are any less wise, educated, wealthy or cognitive than any of the other humans. They may even be well known public figures, celebrities or other people that are admired or viewed as “elite” in one way or another. They are often very successful in human terms of “wealth”, or popularity, but the negative energies direct the human to the most lucrative path regardless of what effect the actions may have on others. Others stay well clear of any attention, positive or otherwise and can be the most dangerous of all. They generally feed off the 80% in one way or another and try to steer clear of the positive energy because it is something they fear. The most sinister of this group is still held in high esteem by the masses, but due to their fear of them rather than admiration. This 10% usually has little control over one or more of their dogs, but they are able to prosper due to their willingness to separate themselves from the 80% “pack”, regardless of the fact that they are going in a negative direction. They are the most dangerous because from the outside it is difficult for most if not all of the 80% group to tell the difference between these negative humans and their positive counterparts. Often, by the time they realize that their admiration and idolization is misplaced, the proverbial cheque has already been cashed.
When thinking of how our human dogs behave, it is important to always remember these three groups and that they are unchanging. To find the road to the enlightened and positive 10% one must always be aware of and guard against the opposite and negative 10%, while at the same time understanding that the 80% are and always will be right where they belong, stuck in the middle. The key is to be aware of them, not a part of them.

What are the dogs of humanity?
I love dogs, I do, but like anything that is in our care, the enjoy ability of having a dog is directly relational to how well that dog is trained and the amount of leash that it is given. We’ve all spent time at some point in our lives boiling over at some loud barking, garden digging, yard defecating or otherwise unruly canine whether it be our neighbors or our own. Remember the old saying that if you give someone enough rope….? Well the same goes for the dogs of humanity. If you have a dog who never gets proper attention and doesn’t learn to behave around people, that dog may bite people and most certainly will annoy people. How do we avoid this? Well, if our dog is the type that needs a lot of attention and jumps up on people, we may decide he needs to be on a shorter leash at times. If our dog has a tendency to bite first and ask questions later, we might have to consider a muzzle. (Before any dog owner gets worked up, please understand that this is just an example!)
Inside every human is another pack of dogs that needs attention and consideration at all times in order for our soul to have a good life. Each is an important part of who we are as humans and each can either help us or hinder us in our quest for enlightenment. Each must be given enough leash to properly feed itself and held firm if it wants to go beyond this. Over or under feeding any of these dogs will cause problems in your life and a dysfunctional relationship between you and your human, or the human “you” that surrounds your soul.
Today I will speak about the human dog of Ego.
Ego often gets a bad rap. It is seen as a negative and anyone who “has an ego” is seen to be vain and full of his or her self. First of all, if you love and feel good about yourself, there should be nothing negative about this. Ego, like any of the humanity dogs, is an important part of every human. Ego can provide the strength of character and self esteem everyone longs for but few have. It is responsible for much of the positive in how we feel about ourselves, and much of the negative that others feel about us.
The key to understand and controlling this dog is to first accept that Ego is not bad. It is just a part of being human, a dog that must be managed. It is very important that every human feed the Ego dog on a regular basis, but equally important that this dog never be allowed to run free off leash. If the Ego dog is left off the leash, its human will become overly vain and “egotistical”. In order to function in the best way for your soul, it important to free oneself of the many distractions and negative energy’s caused by, well, by being human!
Think of it like this. If you were an attention seeking dog who jumped all over everyone and loved to be pet, you might be so interested in this attention that you wouldn’t notice all of the plants, vases and other décor items that you were tromping on everything without notice. Doesn’t this remind you of some people in your life, or perhaps you yourself? There are times in our lives when people pay us the compliment of appreciating what we have done and this makes us feel good, just like when a dog gets his head scratched or his tummy rubbed. The dog needs this to feel wanted and appreciated just as our human ego needs attention in order to properly support other dogs like Emotion, Competitiveness and Creativity. (Other dogs which will be covered later). If you give your Ego enough leash to feed himself, but not enough to lose control of him, you’ll find life is that much easier from then on. Properly feeding the Ego dog can help instill a sense of confidence which will allow us to steer our human through the worlds maze with less trouble. It can help us begin to build the bubble of truth around ourselves that is the fundamental core in enlightenment. Accepting that you are in charge, not your human. The you inside, the one who talked to you from the earliest memory. Who felt that you were from another planet or something, because no one on earth could ever possibly be feeling or thinking what you were feeling or thinking at that moment. Does this sound familiar? Of course it does, for every one of us at some point or other has felt that nothing made sense and we were not the same as anyone else. This is our soul trying to speak out. It generally manifests itself in our youth, when the soul can be felt but the world is throwing so much distraction at each of us it is near impossible to focus. Due to a lack of control of our human dogs, most people go through life constantly reacting to the world around them rather than having the world react to them. They accept statements such as, “She’s just like that”, or, “Deep down he’s a nice guy”. Deep down we are all nice. Our soul cannot be anything but logical and good. It is pure and sound and does not err. Unfortunately however, this soul is surrounded by the dogs of humanity, which begin like us, as small newborns, and quickly grow out of control if not properly attended. (And lets face it, few if any of us are born into an environment which would nurture yet control the dogs, therefore they generally end up in charge!)
Have you ever known someone who seemed totally together in almost every way, except for one thing that seemed out of place? Maybe you know a person who seems generally in control and calm, but in certain situations can have what we often refer to as a swelled head? We are usually taught that this means they are vain and egotistical, which is often correct, but most importantly is the fact that while this person may have most of their human digs well contained and under control, there are times when the Ego dog is given too much leash and becomes an annoyance to those around it. Each of us has varying degrees of control on our own dogs at any given time, whether we understand it or not. Some of us may be in control of our Ego dog but not our Emotion dog. Others may be have a good handle on everything except the dog of Emotion, with swings of happy/sad that seem to defy logic. This is often referred to as Manic Depressive or more recently Bi-Polar. My philosophy is that rather than naming something and then providing medication for it, if people could learn that regardless of the many western medical system descriptions, the bottom line is that if you’re Emotional dog is not leashed properly, then the soul, (you remember, the you inside that only you knows is there?), cannot be at peace. The Ego dog has a factor in feeding some of the other dogs, for if you have a good balance of Ego, (meaning just enough leash so the dog is fed but not fat!), it will support the other dogs like Emotion, Creativity and others. A properly fed and cared for Ego is like a properly fed and cared for dog. It is healthy, calm and attractive to others, not to mention a nice shiny coat! Never again think that feeding your Ego is wrong! Just remember that like all of the human dogs, it is one that must always be kept in check to assure that it does not gnaw through its chain and run wild. Like playing a large fish, the Ego must be given enough room so it can run without letting it break the line. Now I know there are people out there (or are there?), who would say, “I have nothing about me that is good enough to feed my ego” or something similar. To this I say nonsense! If you feel this way it is only proof that for too long your Ego dog has been under nourished. The people around us, friends, family, community and the world at large are very successful at beating the healthy Ego out of humans. It begins early from all directions and expands as we begin watching TV and notice that what the world seems to think of as beautiful, intelligent and sexy does not have a place within us. How many young girls have been torn apart by fears and anxieties over looking right, fitting in, being “cool” and a host of other concerns put on us by outside forces who seem to have already decided we are unworthy without ever meeting us. An important factor in dealing with this is to remember that first of all, you cannot and must not look to the outside world for confirmation of your life nor for justification to your actions and decisions. The only way to find that serenity that we all want, whether we admit it or not, is by reining in the dogs of humanity while making sure they are properly fed and cared for. Just like the out of control barking dogs I spoke of earlier, and out of control Ego will disrupt and pull your human into places and situations that are neither healthy nor productive. It is like a very small child walking a very big dog. The dog cannot be controlled and will pull the child all over at its will. As the child grows and learns the keys to life, so the dog seems to shrink and become more manageable.

Why life has so many problems and where they come from.
Do you ever have a problem that arises in your life that no matter how you try you cannot figure out? Well of course you do. We all do, almost every day of our lives on this spinning globe of confusion. Why then do we often find ourselves asking the same questions each time this turmoil rears its head? (No matter what your particular turmoil is?) I'm sure there are many of you who for instance, have a fight with your spouse and are being hauled over the coals because of something that was said, but no matter how many times you go over the conversation, you can find no logical reason for the disturbance. I used to think this was just a case of me being the only logical person in the debate, but I was sadly mistaken. I also used to think it was because the person with whom I had the conflict simply didn't properly understand what I was trying to say and thus mistook my words (which from my own point of view usually seemed brilliant!). Perhaps other problems arose because of a lack of words or actions? Oh how many long nights were spent in years past trying to think of how I got into the mess I was in and why no one could see the wonderful me that was deep inside. The reason my children is something that once found and accepted, can honestly save your life and make the rest of your time on this absurd orb much more enjoyable and most of all, peaceful.
The first step in understanding this concept is to learn and accept the truth about all humans and that which lies hidden within each and every one of us, though few ever understand it. The fact is that inside every living human on earth, there are two intricate parts. The first part, as most can imagine, is our human self. That bungling, stumbling benign beast that somehow manages to walk erect and functions sufficiently enough at least to allow us to move from one day to the next. The second part is something theologians have been searching for since the first of us crawled from the ocean and began scratching our butts. It is known by different names. Some call it “The Soul”, while others use terms like “my inner child”, “the real me” and a myriad of other fluffy terms that allow us to put a name to that which we cannot see but are certain is there inside of us. Although I have read up on most of the major religions of the world and as a child my human was raised in a typical religious environment, I have found that all of these organizations have the same problem. They are created and managed by humans, not “souls”. The key to beginning your path to enlightenment is in understanding that the two are separate and definitely not equal. People seem to have an easier time relating to this concept if I use the term “soul” but please understand that I am in no way using this term with any formal religious connotation.
What part then does the actual human being have in the human soul relationship you ask? (Or at least you would ask if you were actually reading this as I write!) Follow me and I will explain it to you.
At the moment we are first born, our “soul” is the largest part of who we are, surrounded by a small wrinkly human form that is already confused and befuddled, which might explain all the crying! We are in fact closer at this time to being in touch with the mystical and most important part of who each of us is than many, if not most of us will ever be again throughout our lives. The world as a whole and all of the humans surrounding us work diligently to push that soul back into the deep crevices of the human self and surround it by things like guilt, protocol, lack of self esteem and more, in order that the world as a whole can continue as it does. Believe me when I tell you that few people will ever rise above that which is their human selves, which will leave them effectively swimming in a pot of muck for their entire lives. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that everyone’s lives will be terrible! In fact, it is the roller coaster of success versus failure which keeps most of us from looking further into ourselves. Just when you have had enough of everything and want more, the world throws you a bone that distracts you enough so you forget what your concerns were, and life goes back to how it was. Sound familiar? I struggled with this myself for much of my life until one day the answers came to me and everything began to make sense. It started not to long ago when I was having a problem with my spouse, who is a wonderful person that cares for and loves me as deeply as I do in return. On this occasion, (sadly one of many before), The conflict came from something that I had said, which for the life of me was not worded nor intended to cause any problem and in fact was in my mind quite unimportant. After much talk and deliberation, I came to understand that even though I had obviously not intended any harm, harm was caused and now I was in the muck again. The answer became clear to me. It is illogical that the “soul” inside me would ever do anything to hurt the one that I love. When I think of things from the me that I know is inside, I could never even think of being unkind or hurtful to this person. With the acceptance of that, the only logical conclusion is that there are two forces within me, and within each of us. The one is that which we know we are inside, which I think everyone would agree is a pretty good catch! The problem everyone has is that we don’t feel the “me” inside is the same as the “me” outside, and we are correct in this. The “me” inside, the “soul” or whatever you want to call it, is pure, honest and failure proof. It cannot lie, it cannot cheat and it cannot hurt. The problem is that this pure, wonderful being is trapped within a human that is run by a pack of wild dogs. (I use the term dogs not literally but in reference to the breakdown of the human being, which I will get to in later postings).
It is being human that causes all of our problems, but it should never be seen as an excuse or justification to our behaviors, only an explanation so we can learn from it. If you would like to learn more about the “dogs” within us, drop in tomorrow and I will expand and continue………………………
